In just two days, on August 31, participants in the Buddies Without Borders Online Forums - Coexistence: Case Studies on Peace & Change will reunite and celebrate what they have accomplished: the ability to work across the divides and find common ground. Voting for the People's Choice Award closes tomorrow, Friday, August 30th.
One such student is Nora Franka Vastag, a 10th grader from Green Bay High School, New Zealand. Nora is one of the Top Finishers, and below is an excerpt of her reflection on her journey throughout the forum:
"Throughout this forum and the last forum, I have grown immensely. This forum has encouraged me to view worldwide problems through different perspectives.
In school I had heard little about how bad equality is in Girls' education( Malala Yousafazi, my peace activist's message). I learned how 130 million girls are out of school, which is so unfair as it is a basic human right. Factors that you can't control such as being born in a country or a family that lives in poverty, being a girl, being a specific religion, or being a different culture shouldn't mean you can't achieve your goals and dreams, and not have access to something that is a basic human right.
However, although there are many problems regarding coexistence- there is also hope. I saw teens coming together from all around the world - to make change and help these problems- to make the world a better place. From writing prompts on solutions to help these problems, to even making videos about it- it truly feels inspiring and hopeful. I feel like I have found my place through BWB. The place where I can express my opinions, make changes and see a new light for my future. I have truly found my people, and my place, and I hope to continue being able to help make change and help make the world a better place- as we are the future and the hope. "
The future is bright because of these emerging leaders. You are invited to join our global community.https://www.globaleducationdestinations.org/onlineforums
